AI – License to Automate

Intelligent agents for beginners and professionals

Less effort, faster decisions, clearer processes – smart AI agents can do just that.

At the artiso INNO TALK  “AI – License to Automate” on 10 April and 3 June 2025 at the KICU Ulm, we showed how intelligent automation already works today – practical, understandable and immediately transferable to everyday business life.

At the KICU Ulm, everything centred around the question of how AI agents can already be used productively today. The artiso INNO TALK provided a practical demonstration of how intelligent systems not only automate individual tasks, but also independently control, prioritise and optimise entire processes.

Exciting presentations and live demos made it clear that with the right tools – from no-code to code-first – smart, scalable agent solutions can be developed that can be flexibly adapted to new requirements and create real added value in day-to-day business.

Understanding automation: From agents with a mission

Claus Allgaier opened the thematic framework of the evening with his keynote speech “AI or DIE – The future belongs to the designers“. He made it clear that the development of artificial intelligence is progressing exponentially – and while many are still discussing the possible effects, AI technologies have long been writing new rules for the economy and society. Companies that actively shape AI secure clear competitive advantages. Those who do not engage with it risk being left behind.

AI is no longer just a technology issue – it affects everyone who is prepared to act creatively, courageously and with an eye to the future.

What makes a real agent – and where does their productive use begin?

The answer: not in gimmicks, but in systems that understand tasks, use tools, make decisions and control processes independently. Enterprise agents are exactly that: discoverable, observable, operable, secure and scalable – and in interaction as multi-agent systems, they can also be coordinated, understood and expanded.

Those who master AI remain relevant – those who ignore it become replaceable. AI is not just for programmers, but for everyone who is creative and brave enough to engage with it. This strategic view of the change brought about by AI agents led on to the practical contributions of the evening.

From mailbox to process: How no-code agents take real work off your hands

In the first practical presentation, Marco Sauter showed how easy it can be to get started in the world of AI agents – and how much potential there already is in so-called no-code tools.

Using an internal application example, he took the audience through an everyday problem faced by many organisations: A shared mailbox for equipment hire and service, which is checked manually by several people every day. The result: redundant effort, duplication of work and the risk of important emails being lost. The solution: An intelligent agent created with the help of n8n, a visual automation tool – without a single line of code.

In a live demo, Marco showed step by step how the AI agent recognises relevant information, pre-sorts emails, automatically informs the relevant people and thus not only saves time, but also improves service quality.

No-code is more than just a starting point – it offers a real option for teams that need fast, comprehensible solutions without having to rely on developer resources. Especially in prototyping or when integrating many standard services, n8n shows its strengths.

With this practical example, Marco made it clear that AI agents can already be used productively today – not someday, but now.

When no-code is no longer enough

Tobias Appel followed on directly from Marco’s contribution – and posed the central question: What happens when processes become more complex? When simple workflows reach their limits and more flexibility or decision-making logic is required?

Using the example of equipment rental, Tobias showed how a dynamic agent system can be developed from an initially linear process: instead of a centrally controlled process, several autonomous agents now take on different roles – for example for processing enquiries, queries, prioritisation or external searches.

The concept was further developed using the example of equipment rental: instead of a centrally controlled workflow, there are now several autonomous agents who take on specific roles – for example for processing requests, prioritisation, queries or external searches.

These agents:

  • make their own decisions based on their context,

  • actively communicate with each other,

  • and coordinate their actions in a decentralised manner.

The result is a flexible, scalable system that can be adapted to different requirements – whether in day-to-day business or in more complex company scenarios. The switch from no-code to code is not an either-or – it is a question of the right tool for the respective level of maturity.

Both approaches have their justification. The key is to use the right tool at the right time – and to design processes in such a way that they can grow along with it.

Conclusion: The right agent at the right time

INNO TALK 2025 impressively demonstrated that the use of AI agents is no longer a topic for the future – but a real opportunity to make company processes smarter, faster and more flexible. Whether with no-code solutions for quick prototypes or with scalable multi-agent systems based on code: automation with AI does not start with technology – but with an understanding of the right setup.

Making the right decisions now lays the foundation for productive, adaptive systems that not only reduce workload but also create real added value.
